Framework for Your Educational Experience

The following values provide a framework for the student educational experience at Moody and a basis for assessing student progress.

CHRISTIAN LIFE AND CHARACTER

Develop a proper relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ through knowledge of the Scriptures, spiritual discipline, and obedience, as you cultivate a maturing Christian lifestyle and worldview. This growth, maturity, and character formation encompasses all aspects of life— including the intellectual, social, and physical habits of fitness and well-being.

BIBLICAL AND THEOLOGICAL LITERACY

You’ll gain a foundational knowledge of Bible and theology. Discover the methodology and gain skills for thoughtful analysis, interpretation, and application of Scripture. Develop a thoughtful defense of the Christian faith, the habit of applying the Bible to your personal life, and your response to vocational and avocational calls and commitments.

CHRISTIAN LIFE AND WORLDVIEW

Practice integrating biblical truth into every area of your life—both through experience and learning. Discover biblical truth as not only a part of general knowledge, but also as a condition. You’ll learn to harmonize faith and learning systematically, and develop a coherent view of contemporary issues from a biblical perspective.

MINISTRY AND VOCATIONAL SKILLS

Understand the call and meet the requirements for effective vocational ministry through study in organized fields of learning, practical experience, and Christian service. Learn to apply your classroom experience and training to education, edification, and evangelization through the church. You’ll commit to vocational currency, continuing education, and lifelong learning.

ANALYTICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING

You’ll develop skills in critical and analytical thinking and value the unity of truth. Develop problem-solving techniques, research methodology, and ways to express ideas clearly, logically, thoughtfully, and persuasively through aesthetic, oral, and written forms.

PERSONAL AND GROUP RELATIONSHIPS

You’ll grow in the area of understanding others based on biblical patterns and become a responsible, compassionate, and productive participant in the body of Christ. You’ll serve society, family, and the church through personal example, leadership, and organizational skills.

SOCIAL AND CULTURAL SENSITIVITY

Foster an understanding of national and international cultures as you develop an appreciation for the richness and interdependence of multicultural communities. Respect the dignity of each person as a unique image-bearer of God. Become increasingly socially, aesthetically, and politically sensitive.
