Your Home Away from Home


Whether you commute from home or live in an off-campus apartment, you are a part of Moody’s rich community, and we’re here to assist you! Commuter students pay per credit hour for courses and can keep a full-time or part-time course load, whatever best suits your needs! As a commuter student, you have access to the benefits of Moody’s student activities and amenities that will not just support your academic goals, but connect you with like-minded individuals who are passionate about transforming the world for Christ.

Commuter Lounge

Take a break or settle in for a study session in the Commuter Lounge. Enjoy connecting with fellow commuters! The commuter lounge has vending machines for snacks on the run, microwave ovens, a refrigerator, tables and a sink to wash dishes for students that wish to bring their meals.

Commuter Lockers

Lockers on the second floor of the Alumni Student Center are designated for use by commuting students to keep personal items secure while on campus. To secure use of a locker, students can through the Office of Student Programs when they arrive on campus.

Moody Commuter Pantry

One of Moody’s newest programs, the MBI Commuter Pantry, serves students to help them manage life emergencies, financial challenges and unexpected life circumstances. The Student Programs Office runs the pantry in order to help students move beyond the life challenge of food insecurity, have access to free and nutritious food, with the ultimate goal of helping students achieve academic success.

Meal Plans

Commuter students may use the Student Dining Room (SDR) if desired, or feel free to bring your own meals! Several dining options, including three meal plans, are available for commuter and off-campus students. A twenty-meal ticket may be purchased for use in the SDR, resulting in significant savings over the cost per meal at the door. Meals are also available for purchase in The Commons, our retail cafeteria, as well!

Parking

Parking is available on campus for a nominal fee. You must order a parking decal from Moody’s Public Safety office. For further information, please contact the Public Safety office at public.safety@moody.edu and they’ll help you get started!

Chicago Transit Authority U-Pass for Commuter Students

Commuter students taking 12 or more credits per semester are eligible to request a University Pass (U-Pass), allowing you unlimited rides aboard the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) buses and trains. Students receive unlimited rides for $160.00 each fall and spring semester. Solheim Gym

Commuter students have access to Moody’s state-of-the-art athletics facility, available for students, staff and faculty members. Solheim offers collegiate basketball/volleyball courts, an indoor running track, racquetball courts, an auxiliary gym, a fully-equipped weight room, and an aerobics room with spinning and stationary bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals.

Crowell Library

Commuter students have full access to the Crowell Library during library hours. The Crowell Online Library contains the full catalog available to on-campus and off-campus students, including books, periodicals, eBooks and text references. Students may also request books and/or journal materials be sent to them directly from the Crowell Library.

Tuition and Fees

Commuter students pay per credit hour for their courses. Our current undergraduate tuition rate for the 2021-2022 school year is $370 per credit hour. The graduate tuition rate is $475 per credit hour. Commuter students are also subject to Chicago campus fees which are estimated to be around $2500 per academic school year.
