Starting a Degree at Moody is Now ‘Virtually’ a No-Brainer.

Did you know you can begin your Moody degree from right where you are?

That’s right! It’s possible with Moody’s First Year Experience Virtual (FYEV) program, which was designed to support students as they transition to the often-demanding college life. The program consists of modules that you can complete online from your bedroom, living room—or anywhere! This structure gives you the flexibility to study where you live so you can continue to work, serve, and maintain your current commitments.

How Does First Year Experience Virtual Work?

In this program, you will participate in four, seven-week modules of online and Hyflex courses throughout the first academic year. Each semester you can choose to participate in the modules synchronously (live on Zoom) or asynchronously (viewing pre-recorded classes), depending on your schedule.

These engaging modules cover topics such as:

  • biblical worldview and integration
  • human sexuality
  • ministry calling
  • personal development
  • ministry skills
  • and interpersonal interaction.

Modules are scheduled on Fridays from 10:00–10:50 a.m. and taught by our experienced and renowned faculty, who will invest in your academic success. This one-year program consists of 30 credit hours that students pay on a per-credit-hour basis. Since each Moody student is required to complete a Practical Christian Ministry (PCM) assignment each semester, FYEV students will fulfill their PCM requirement by working with the PCM Office to approve a site near their location.

The Support You Need

Student Success Coach

We’ve set up the FYEV program so that you begin to build strong connections soon after you begin. We will assign you a student success coach who helps you navigate your first year as a Moody student. Through regular one-on-one meetings, your coach supports you as you manage your time and balance school, life, and ministry. Your success coach can also help you gain online access to helpful services such as the library, tutoring, and financial services.

Student Cohorts

The First Year Experience Virtual program is also an active community of learners who share the same goal: to grow in their relationship with Christ and impact the world for the gospel. You are placed in a cohort with other FYEV students who take some online and Hyflex classes together and some classes with Chicago campus students. As a result, you will have an established group of peers before you arrive on campus for your second year.

Planning Your First Year Schedule

As far as your class schedule, we’ll help you plan a schedule that balances your workload throughout the year and consists of classes that transfer seamlessly into any Moody degree program. And since all FYEV students follow the same class schedule, our Moody admissions staff will automatically register you for each of your seven-week courses.
