Alumni Spotlight - Huber Family '00 and '01

  • July 23, 2014

After meeting, marrying and graduating from Moody, Matthew '00 and Karen (Obran '01) Huber moved to Ireland in 2008, serving in youth ministry and church planting with Greater Europe Mission. When they returned to Dublin last year, Matt took on the role of Dublin City Leader for Serve the City, an international non-profit organization meeting the practical needs of the vulnerable and marginalized.

The Irish branch of Serve the City was founded by another Moody alumnus, Alan McElwee ('91). Through their work with GEM and the partnership with Serve the City, they have begun engaging with local artists in the creative sphere—Matt as a woodworker, and Karen through creative writing.

"I think every artist communicates with the Creator through their genre, or their heart language," said Huber. "Creative artists can have a profound impact on the world for the Kingdom."

Matt and Karen live in Dublin with their three children: Jack, Ella and Asher.
